Dan Carlson founded Realspeed Automotive to provide Mustang and Ford Enthusiasts with the highest quality parts and customer service. Mr. Carlson spent a decade designing parts for Steeda Autosports before forming Realspeed Automotive in 2004.
Throughout the years, over two dozen publications have quoted Dan as a source for technical information, including articles and books such as:
Dan Carlson has been modifying Mustangs since 1990 when the Fox-body Mustang first inspired him to build a daily driver that would run 1/4-mile in 11 seconds while still keeping excellent street manners. Dan's goal was to take this Mustang on cross-country trips from Florida to New Hampshire, where he attended college.
Nowadays, it is not so hard to go 11’s in your daily driver with the right parts, but in the early 1990s, it was pioneering. Today, Dan’s Mustang runs the quarter mile in 10.4 @ 132 mph, out-handles most other Mustangs on the road, and is used for everything from weekend cruising to picking the kids up from school.
Dan accomplishes this with the help of about a dozen parts he designed himself, many of which are available here at realspeedautomotive.com.
Everyone at Realspeed has a passion for racing and has driven their car on the racetrack at one time or another. The owners and staff at Realspeed have won racing championships in the Fun Ford Weekend drag racing series and NASA American Iron road racing series.
Dan also won three racing karts titles before moving up to compete in the SCCA and also served as a driving instructor for club events at Sebring International Raceway, Moroso Motorsports Park, Limerock Park, and NJMP.
In 2015 Realspeed won the NASA Northeast Region American Iron series championship, a race series that pits modified Mustangs and Camaros and other rear wheel drive cars against each other in a series of 14 half hour long races throughout the year.
The crew at Realspeed has made hundreds of passes down the 1/4-mile, testing parts in their daily drivers and race cars.
With decades of experience in the industry and a passion for excellence and performance, the staff at Realspeed knows how to do the job right. They also know how to avoid the parts that don’t work as advertised.
